![]() Q. My (XR6, FX3, FX5, SC3, SC5) is connected to my PC, but it isn't being recongized A. There could be several causes for this problem. If your PC has multiple USB devices attached, you may want to try eliminating certain ones to see if any of them may be conflicting with the FOXPRO unit. Potential could exist for an IRQ conflict taking place. You can go into your device manager and locate your USB host-controllers and note what all devices are sharing a single IRQ. If a conflict is present, you will see a message that indicates this. Another issue may be if you are using a USB hub. A USB hub is a device that allows you to attach many USB devices to a single USB port. These hubs will have a main unit that has multiple USB ports and a single USB cable connecting to a USB port on the PC. If the hub that you are using is not self-powered (meaning that it does not have its own power supply) or if the only source of power for the hub is the connection to the USB port on the PC, this could create a problem. The hub distributes power to all other connected devices. The FOXPRO unit also requires power. With a non-self-powered hub, there may not be enough power getting to the unit. Removing the hub and connecting the unit directly to the PC can eliminate this problem. You could also try finding a USB hub that has its own power supply. One last issue could be with your operating system. If the PC you are working on has Windows 98SE, make sure that you have the FX Series driver installed. The FOXPRO units mentioned above are optimized to take advantage of USB 2.0. Windows 98SE does not have a driver for USB mass storage devices and without the FOXPRO driver being installed your unit will not be recognized on the PC. Some advanced issues on older PC's will require more in-depth analysis to determine the exact problem. It may come down to an issue where modifications may need to be made in your BIOS with IRQ settings and sharing arrangements. These may require servicing by a qualified PC technician. ![]() Q. How do I install the Windows98SE driver for my FX3? A. This is a fairly easy task to perform, but if you are not familiar with basic PC
operating procedures or installing hardware you may want to consult a local PC technician
to get help. |
