Biography
Norway, where mountains are blue, fjords are deep, and foxes are nervous! Marius grew up pretty much like you picture a Norwegian kid; skis on his feet, fishing pole in his hand, a bellyful of mom’s bread with brown goat cheese, spending a lot of alone time in the wild. He just had to become a WILD man. At 16, Marius got certified as a hunter, grabbed a gun, hit the woods, and never looked back.
Marius has a bachelor degree in ecology and natural resources, and loves the outdoors. It’s important for him to be a part of the ecosystem. Being a backcountry hunter, Marius won’t measure his season by number of kills, but rather the memories he brought with him.
Quite early in his hunting career, Marius started hunting red fox. Baited hunting is the most common way to shoot foxes in Norway, and that’s how it all started. As the years went by, it got harder and harder to sit through the whole night and wait for the fox that maybe would show up, so Marius started to look into predator calling. And BAM, a new chapter begun. The area where Marius live is dominated by forest, with a few small fields sprinkled in. This type of nature will usually hold a lot less fox than farmland, and calling them is hard, because controlling the wind and scent is difficult. But he made it work, and he started to have some success. Marius had been looking into e-callers for some time. He knew that if he wanted to shoot more fox to help the roe deer through the winters, he had to be able to do something. Naturally, he stumbled upon FOXPRO in that process, and immediately knew where to start.
Marius’ calling setup is a FOXPRO Shockwave caller, and a Jackdaddy decoy. In addition to that, he always carries a set of Furtaker mouthcalls. This equipment will cover any need he might have in the woods. All the great features in the Shockwave has the fox running to him from a mile away, and the Jackdaddy takes care of that final coaxing to bring the fox out in the open for a shot. In addition to red fox, Marius is also trying out his Shockwave in other hunting styles. Crows, ravens and ducks are easily called with a few addon sounds, but also the deer species can be called with good success.
It’s safe to say that FOXPRO has changed the way Marius hunts, not to mention how many foxes he can call in in a season. It’s been a blast to hunt with the FOXPRO gear, and Marius and FOXPRO will keep hammering foxes as long as he lives.
