Andrew Lewand was born and raised in Fairport, New York, which is a suburb of Rochester. He is married, and has two children. He enjoys sports and is a Physical Education teacher and lacrosse coach at Fairport Central Schools. Lewand is an ardent hunter who regularly pursues squirrel, deer, coyote, fox, woodchuck, crow, and turkey. Lewand's fascination with predators began when he was a student at SUNY Cobleskill majoring in Fisheries & Wildlife Technology.
Lewand began to intensely study fox and coyotes and their biology. 31 years later, Lewand still enjoys studying and pursuing predators and has formed The Bark at the Moon Coyote Club as a way to share the thrill of predator hunting. The club hosts FOXPRO's New York State Predator Hunt as well as other predator hunting events throughout the year.
Lewand is a freelance outdoor writer whose work can be seen in many national magazines, such as Predator Xtreme, The Varmint Hunter Magazine and Trapper & Predator Caller. He has authored six books on predator calling, including the popular Eastern Coyote Challenge. He is also a frequent presenter of predator hunting seminars across the Northeast.
As a long time user of FOXPRO game calls, Andrew states “Calling in and shooting eastern coyotes is tough. It takes the best in gear to get the job done and using a FOXPRO call definitely gives hunters an advantage!â€
